About Metcalfe Bros Ltd

George and John Metcalfe started trading in 1973 with a 4 wheel tipper and JCB 3C digger. Most of the work was around the Sedbergh area for local farmers etc. A contract was won to push over the local landfill sites in South Lakeland so tracked shovels were added to the fleet. Metcalfe Bros were the first company to hire out roadsweepers in Cumbria, supplying ex Council sweepers to building sites throughout the north west.
